Advocate Effectively

At the national level and within our Wake Forest chapter, Indivisible rejects all forms of political violence and intimidation, no matter the source or the target. That’s not just a moral stance—it’s a strategic one. Movements that create lasting change do so by building trust, forging solidarity, and demonstrating discipline, even in the face of threats or attacks.

Nonviolence doesn’t mean backing down. It means standing firm in our values, channeling our anger and our hope into action, and refusing to become what we’re fighting against. We are up against a movement that feeds on fear and chaos. Our answer is a movement grounded in courage, solidarity, and the unshakable belief that a better, more just democracy is worth fighting for—together.

Call Your Senators:

Call your US senators to urge them to take action to permanently end Trump’s illegal war in Iran and refuse his demand for $87 billion in additional funding:

Trump has defied the American people and bipartisan War Powers resolutions, and our senators must use every tool available to end this unconstitutional war, starting by refusing to give a single dime to fund more death and destruction.

Call your US Senators to urge them to oppose the CLARITY Act:

The crypto regulation bill that wouldn’t actually regulate Trump’s crypto empire at all. The Senate could vote on the CLARITY Act within days. Despite Trump’s $1.4 billion profit from the crypto industry in 2025, this “regulation” bill wouldn’t address Trump’s crypto corruption in any way.

Fight Flock Cameras:

FACTS:

  • At least 10 Mooresville, NC police officers are under investigation because they conducted searches of the Flock database for personal reasons rather than as part of any official police investigation

  • Drawing on information obtained through public records requests, Tom Baker provides a very helpful overview of Wake Forest’s license plate cameras, highlighting what they see, what they cost, and who can NOT search them.

  • The National Week of Action Against ALPRs - Automated License Plate Readers is coming up August 16-22!

  • 97 cities have said “no” to Flock recently, cancelling contracts with Flock or rejecting proposals to sign a new contract.

WHAT YOU CAN DO:

We are planning a number of initiatives.

Please send an email to Jen at WakeForestIndivisible@gmail.com if you would like to help!

Combat CORCA:

The Combating Organized Retail Crime Act (CORCA) is pitched as a measure to help keep costs down for consumers by cracking down on shoplifting and other theft that impacts businesses.

In reality, one of the biggest impacts the bill will have, if passed, is handing ICE agents and other government officials increased surveillance within private businesses.

Congress is about to give DHS and ICE more power to spy on us with facial recognition technology and automatic license plate readers like Flock.

The House has already passed this bill and now the Senate is trying to quietly slip it into a must-pass budget bill.

Tell your Senators Tillis and Budd to vote NO on CORCA.

Do not hand the Trump administration more power to abuse! This is an important issue that we need to keep our eyes on.
